Pride Buffalo, Inc.
was founded in 1999 when members of the gay,
lesbian, bisexual and transgendered community of
Buffalo and western New York got together to
establish an organization that would represent a
visible presence to the community at large. In so
doing, Pride Buffalo, Inc. followed the
precedence set in other cities such as New York,
San Francisco and Washington, DC, in which a
public gathering such as a parade was held as a
show of pride and solidarity within the
community. The mission of Pride Buffalo, Inc. is
to raise awareness and to recognize, celebrate
and affirm the lives of gay, lesbian, bisexual
and transgender people by sponsoring various
events and celebrations. Pride Buffalo, Inc. is
committed to developing and maintaining an
inclusive organization that honors the diverse
people in our region and that enhances
communication and cohesion among gay, lesbian,
bisexual and transgender individuals, businesses
and organizations. |
