Pride Parade Guidelines

Pride Buffalo, Inc. makes every effort to provide a fun and memorable series of Gay Pride events throughout the month of June.  Much consideration is given to the diversity of our community and it is the intent of this organization to make all people feel they can attend these events safely.

The authorities responsible for our permits require Pride Buffalo, Inc. to carry liability insurance.  This insurance comes at a cost and with rules of its own. The following is a list of guidelines that Parade participants must follow to make the Pride Parade and Celebration a safe and enjoyable time for all participants:

  1. Volunteers should report to the volunteer coordinator no later than 11 A.M. to receive their assigned task.
  2. Marching contingents and floats must arrive no later than noon for proper placement in the line-up.
  3. During the line-up procedure, music should be played at a low volume so announcements can be heard.
  4. No throwing of ANY items (confetti, palm or postcards, etc.) to spectators on the parade route or elsewhere. Handing out items is acceptable. FINES WILL BE ASSESSED TO THOSE WHO FAIL TO ADHERE TO THIS RULE.
  5. Stay off the sidewalks and remain on the parade route with your group.
  6. Participants must obey the laws at all times, including those regarding the wearing of clothing.
  7. All music must be turned OFF upon arrival at Bidwell Park, as it is distracting to residents and those enjoying the celebration.

Following these guidelines will ensure a safe and enjoyable time for all.  Pride Buffalo, Inc. thanks you in advance for your cooperation.
